PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Opinel Oak Wood N°08 folding knife 8.5 cm
The handle is made of oak wood, from trees grown in France. Their wood has a brownish-yellow hue, often with regular veining. Modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel is used to make the blade. Thanks to the addition of chromium, it is anti-corrosion and does not require any special maintenance. The carbon content of at least 0.40% provides excellent sharpness. A beautiful piece of universal pocket knife will delight every lover of these practical travel companions. With a pocket folding knife, you always have a great helper at hand. The knife is traditionally equipped with a patented ViroBloc safety lock, preventing the blade from closing or opening spontaneously.
The N°08 Oak Wood pocket knife is your reliable companion for day trips with friends or family, picnics or al fresco dining. This knife can be used in all situations and will quickly become an indispensable accessory.

Wood
95% of the wood used to make the handles comes from sustainably managed French forests. There is no excessive deforestation and no air pollution during long transport – all of this means less strain on nature. The main wood supplier has its forests in the French Jura region and is of course PEFC certified.
Handle
Oaks originating from France. This is a hardwood that is very resistant to pests and mold due to its high tannin content. The wood has a yellow-brown hue with regular veining.
Safety first
The ViroBloc safety lock reliably prevents the knife from opening and closing by itself. The simple but still unsurpassed safety ring was invented by Marcel Opinel back in 1955. Virobloc is part of all folding knives from N°06 onwards. In addition to locking the blade of the open knife, which ensures its absolutely safe use (it will not fold by itself even under great pressure), ViroBloc also locks the blade when closed, so you can carry any knife equipped with this safety lock with you without any worries.
Stainless steel
The choice of steel determines the durability and quality of the blade, and therefore due attention is paid to it, as it ultimately affects the main useful properties of the entire product. High-quality Swedish steel 12C27 (Sandvik) was chosen for Opinel knives. This steel is highly resistant to corrosion and easy to maintain thanks to the addition of chromium. The addition of carbon in the steel (0.40%) ensures an excellent edge that holds its shape even when in contact with harder material without the need for sharpening.
Opinel - a design icon
The story of the now iconic Opinel brand begins in the 19th century, when merchant Victor-Amédée Opinel learned to forge nails during his travels and subsequently founded his forge in France. After his death, his son Daniel took over the craft, becoming the "sharps maker" for local farmers because the blades of his sickles and scythes were widely acclaimed as the sharpest possible. However, the real Opinel - the folding pocket knife - had to wait a while for its discovery. Daniel Opinel's eldest son, Joseph, decided to follow in his father's footsteps and, driven by artistic passion, combined handcrafting with the most modern technology at the time and created a small miracle. The year was 1890 and the Opinel folding pocket knife saw the light of day, a knife loved from day one and passed down from generation to generation. The knife, which over the years has gained hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, has become a common part of many households and somewhat of a symbol of all of France...
Nowadays, the company produces not only legendary folding outdoor knives, but also has a sophisticated kitchen program, including forged kitchen knives; you can also buy stainless steel cutlery and steak knives from the Opinel brand today.
