Kähler Urbania ceramic candlestick Town house 12.5 cm

The Urbania collection pays homage to light and perfectly complements the Christmas atmosphere. The small ceramic houses, designed by the designer duo Bache and Bendix Becker, were inspired by well-known building types and radiate the most beautiful light through the windows and doors. The distinctive townhouse with its clear classicist references is no exception. Let it shine on its own or place it next to other Urbania houses to create a completely unique decoration on the windowsill, chest of drawers or Christmas table.

Urbania is an elegant and modern collection from the Danish brand Kähler, in which the austere look and tradition of hand-made products are combined with the warmth of tea candles, creating style and coziness on dark December nights. As the days start to get shorter, we need to increase the coziness of the interior, and it is at this time that the candlesticks from the ceramic Urbania collection, which always emit a beautiful light, are absolutely perfect. When you place the candlestick in the middle of the room, the tea candle beautifully shines through the windows and doors of the houses, creating a cozy glow, while the shadows dance and play.

Kähler ceramic products combine design history with modernity. The house-shaped candlesticks bring a city scene into your home, where warm light streams from the many hand-carved windows throughout the town. The possibilities for arranging the houses are endless, and each one represents an architectural journey through time and space.

The collection also includes the famous octagonal glass building of Tivoli, Glassalen, on whose stage countless world stars have performed over the years. The building dates back to 1946 and was designed by the famous Danish architect Poul Henningsen. Another landmark in this collection is the High Tower, which is meant to symbolize visibility and perspective. The tower has the shape of an upright spiral with holes and windows of various sizes through which light flows. All the candlesticks match each other perfectly, so you can create your own town full of light and atmosphere.

The candlesticks are made of glazed ceramic and designed by designers Mette Bache and Barbara Bendix Becher, who, like many other artists and designers, have contributed to Kähler's diverse collection of traditional handmade design products over the years. The Urbania collection is characterized by its simple design and clean lines. Each candlestick exudes authenticity and life, with every door, window or opening being hand-carved. This is classic ceramic craftsmanship and modern minimalist design at its best.

The Danish design brand KÄHLER has a long and fascinating history. It dates back to 1839, when Herman J. Kähler opened a ceramics workshop in the Danish town of Næstved. Later, his sons took over the business and that is when the real success story began. They began experimenting with shapes and different types of glazes, attracting a number of renowned designers to the workshop. This gradually led to international recognition and the KÄHLER brand continued to grow.

With over 180 years of experience in traditional Scandinavian craftsmanship and design, KÄHLER is now owned by architect Frantz Longhi, who shaped the brand into its current form. KÄHLER is best known for its ceramic range, such as vases, dinnerware and candlesticks.
