How to properly care for grilling utensils?
We have tips for you on how to gently clean your grilling utensils and how to keep them looking like new for a long time with proper care. With proper care, they will serve you for a very long time.
GRILLING UTENSILS ARE BEST CLEANED THOROUGHLY
Quality ZWILLING grilling utensils are the perfect choice. Products from this brand are often passed down from generation to generation, and kitchen and grilling utensils that can be used every day are no exception. With proper care, the products often last a lifetime. Here are some important tips to help you maintain your grilling utensils for a long time.
OVERVIEW OF CLEANING GRILLING TOOLS - WATER, SPONGE, DISHWASHER
The most important instructions for cleaning your grilling utensils: We recommend washing under lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a cloth or sponge that is not rough to prevent premature wear caused by aggressive detergents. You can keep the shine of the handles for many years by rubbing them with a drop of cooking oil from time to time.
CLEANING GRILLING TOOLS IN THE DISHWASHER - YES OR NO?
ZWILLING stainless steel grilling utensils can be washed in the dishwasher. However, prolonged exposure to aggressive cleaning chemicals can lead to wear and tear on the material and handle (discoloration). If you decide to use a dishwasher, the washing temperature should not exceed 55°C. Detergents used in dishwashers often contain aggressive cleaning chemicals that can damage the surface of plastics and steel. So be careful: Washing in the dishwasher can shorten the life of the utensils.
MANUAL CLEANING OF GRILLING TOOLS – EASY AND QUICK
The facts speak for themselves, even stainless steel grilling utensils that are labeled as dishwasher safe are better washed by hand. Harsh chemicals, high temperatures, physical contact with other items in a regular home dishwasher (as well as washing cycles lasting hours) - such conditions are not good for the lifespan of your dishes. That's why you should also clean your grilling utensils by hand. Plus, it's much faster and just as effective. For most everyday dirt, hot water, a sponge or a dishwashing brush are enough; for drying, a regular dishcloth or microfiber cloth is enough.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR GRILLING TOOLS LOOK DAMN?
The plastic surface of the handles can turn grey or discolour over time. This is not dangerous or unhygienic, but it is visually unattractive. However, you can easily remove the grey film if necessary by rubbing a drop of household cooking oil on the handle. The handle will regain its shiny appearance. If you take the time to properly care for your grilling utensils, you will enjoy them for much longer.
TIP: STORAGE CONDITIONS ARE IMPORTANT!
Is everything clean, as it should be? There is another way to extend the life of your grilling utensils. It is best if it has its own place and is not stored in a drawer with other cutlery, scissors and other kitchen accessories. A grilling utensil bag is ideal for careful and gentle storage. Grilling utensils should also always be stored in a clean and dry place, where it is protected from direct sunlight.
